WHY WE EXIST

Across Africa, thousands of people suffer spinal injuries each year due to road traffic accidents, falls, violence, and untreated medical conditions. Many are left paralyzed or in chronic pain simply because they cannot afford the cost of surgery or access timely rehabilitation.

Spinal injuries do not only affect the body — they shatter families, livelihoods, education, and the ability to dream again. In many communities, a spinal injury becomes a life sentence of disability, poverty, and isolation.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Timely surgery, proper rehabilitation, and compassionate support can restore mobility, dignity, and hope.
SpinalCare Africa exists to bridge this gap — to ensure that no one is denied care simply because of where they were born or what they can afford.

WHAT WE DO

SpinalCare Africa restores mobility and dignity through a focused, high-impact model built on four pillars:

Surgery Sponsorship

We fund or subsidize life-changing spinal surgeries for patients who cannot afford treatment. Our goal is to ensure no one is denied critical care because of financial hardship.

Rehabilitation Support

We provide physiotherapy, mobility aids, and follow-up care to help patients regain their independence and improve their long-term quality of life.

We guide individuals through diagnosis, referrals, hospital processes, and recovery — ensuring they receive timely, appropriate, and compassionate care.

Advocacy & Awareness

We educate communities about spinal injury prevention, early intervention, and rehabilitation, helping reduce long-term disabilities across Africa.

OUR FOUNDER’S STORY

Across Africa, thousands of people suffer spinal injuries each year due to road traffic accidents, falls, violence, and untreated medical conditions. In 2008, our founder, Dr. Omotayo Omoteso, became part of that statistic when a devastating accident left him paralyzed from the chest down.

Doctors were unsure if he would ever walk again. But through emergency spinal surgery, months of rehabilitation, faith, and unwavering determination, he gradually regained mobility and hope.

That miracle recovery became the foundation of SpinalCare Africa.

Today, Dr. Omoteso is committed to ensuring that no one is denied life-saving spinal care simply because of where they live or what they can afford. His journey fuels a mission rooted in compassion, dignity, and the belief that every individual deserves the chance to walk again and rebuild their future.
